The illustrations by Gabriel Evans are just gorgeous, and the way the story gently celebrates creativity instead of fitting in really resonated with my little one. She's already asked to flip through it three times tonight.

My daughter asked me to read this to her three times in a row last night, and she kept pointing to the spread where the girl paints outside the lines. The illustrations by Gabriel Evans really capture that feeling of being different but not alone.

My daughter usually resists books that try to teach a lesson, but the soft watercolor illustrations kept her flipping pages. It's sweet seeing her realize that being different isn't a bad thing, though I wish the story had a bit more action.
