But little do they know that the tiniest, quietest creature of all has overhead their plot, and she has a plan of her own . . .

What the Ladybird Heard is a fantastically funny story from the stellar picture book partnership of Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks. With brilliant rhyming verse, bright distinctive illustrations and a gorgeously glittery cover, this much-loved modern classic is perfect for reading aloud.

Julian ★★★★★

My three-year-old is obsessed with the rhyming story and the clever way the ladybird saves the day. The illustrations are gorgeous and keep her pointing out details on every page.

Adam W. ★★★☆☆

The illustrations are charming and my kid loves pointing out the ladybird on each page, but the story feels a bit slow in the middle before the robbers show up. It’s a decent bedtime read, just not one we reach for every night.

Ava K. ★★★☆☆

The rhyming text is fun to read aloud, but the story feels a bit long for my 4-year-old's attention span. The animal sounds are a nice touch though.
