John ★★★★★

We bought this for our 7-year-old who loves the Real Pigeons series, and the twist of Stump trying to get back to the Big Tree after a lightning strike hooked him immediately. The art style is just as bold and funny, with panels that break apart beautifully to show the twigs’ teamwork.

Isabella ★★★★★

I was a little worried a graphic novel about twigs might feel too simple, but the art style is surprisingly expressive and the story of Stump trying to get back to the Big Tree is genuinely heartwarming. My kid asked to read it again right after we finished.

Ellie ★★★☆☆

It's a decent read, but the story felt a bit slow in the middle even though the art is charming. My kid liked the twig characters well enough, though we were both hoping for more of the humor we expected. Fine for a one-time borrow, but I'm not sure it has much replay value.
