Les merveilles de la nature

The dual presentation of each entry—real photos side by side with illustrations—makes flipping through feel like exploring a tiny museum. I’ve already lost an evening to the lichen section alone, and the storybook prose makes even the common lizard read like a legend.

My kids have been glued to the illustrated page on opals, asking me to read the storybook description over and over. The mix of photos and drawings really brings each natural wonder to life in a way a typical encyclopedia never could.

I bought this as a gift for my niece, and the combination of real photos and illustrations for each entry makes it feel so much more engaging than a standard encyclopedia. The descriptions are short enough to hold her attention but packed with fascinating details about things like opals and orchids.
